Milliken & Company Publishes Second Annual Corporate Sustainability Report

Global manufacturer lays groundwork to achieve company goals for a more sustainable world

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Diversified global manufacturer Milliken & Company highlights its journey towards a more sustainable world in the company’s second annual corporate sustainability report. The report, which is compiled by Milliken Healthcare’s parent company and includes progress across its global flooring, textile, specialty chemical and healthcare divisions, gives insight into Milliken’s environmental and social commitments by 2025.

“Milliken is meeting the demands of a rapidly changing world,” said Halsey M. Cook, president and CEO for Milliken & Company. “We’re driving progress for sustainability, inclusivity, zero waste, safety and more for the betterment of the planet and our company.”

Using a comprehensive goal scorecard, the 2019 report shares Milliken’s first year of progress towards the company’s 2025 sustainability goals. First introduced in the 2018 report, these goals encompass planet, products and people, and range from zero waste to landfill to fostering an inclusive community that embraces authenticity in the workplace.

In the healthcare industry specifically, Milliken acquired Andover Healthcare, a leading manufacturer of cohesive bandages and compression systems, to strategically align with another respected brand in the advanced wound care market. Occurring in June of 2019, this move officially formed Milliken’s Healthcare division, which is focused on improving patient lives by solving unmet needs.

“Andover Healthcare was a natural fit for Milliken as we shared a common set of values, including creating a healthier future and setting a high bar for performance,” said Alex Kim, EVP and president of Milliken’s Healthcare division. “During the past year, we have made significant progress integrating the businesses and will continue to focus on empowering exceptional teams.”

Much of the enterprise-wide progress made in 2019 forms a critical foundation from which to achieve a range of positive impacts. Reducing indexed greenhouse gas emissions by 12.4%, joining the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, increasing diversity within manager-level roles, and tracking 15,055 volunteer hours within our communities are some of the notable achievements.
