Healing of Devastated Wounds in a Systematic Step-Wise Strategy

Nadeem Chaudhry, Brent Ross, Christina Cuccio, Christina Romero, Manaza Habib

Introduction: Several wound cases have been treated and healed in this series. The gravity of wounds when consulted were enormous in patients with severe comorbidity. Most of these patients were in sepsis with extensive wounds that sometimes were the cause of their sepsis and/or associated with their overall morbid conditions.

Summary: Beside treatment of patients’ life-threatening conditions, the wounds were systematically treated and brought to complete healing. Particular and timely implementation of wound assessment, cultures, and underlying causes were identified and treated. If the wound failed to respond, then missed factors that have prevented healing were identified and on a case-by-case basis these factors were eliminated. The wounds were healed with or without surgical intervention and with simple to complex dressing as necessary.

Conclusion: This poster will be of great value in wound healing of very complex wounds and will lay out simple to complex strategies to pay particular attention to for the diversity of wounds that clinicians face in to their day-to-day practice. The poster will also educate about unnecessary amputations and major joint replacement prosthetic loss.
