How Adherence to Bed Safety/surface Selection Guide Aided Patient Centric Care Program

Abstract Body: Background:  The purpose of our study is to show successful implementation of a bed safety/surface selection guide which includes a convertible mattress resulted in the reductions of falls incidence, reduction of entrapment incidence and continued positive outcomes in wound prevention and treatment. Methods:  25 Facilities with access to Point Click Care (PCC) were identified, subjects were identified at selected facilities with minimum stays of 1 month/30days on convertible surface.  Data was collected by questionnaire, wound assessments from PCC, and PowerBI data tracking.  Data will be collected for 1-year 11/18-11/19 Results:  62 subjects met qualifications for survey at 12 of 25 identified facilities.  Preliminary results show 95% improved skin/tissue integrity, 92% reported improved fall risk, 0 reports of restraint/entrapments, 0 reports where microclimate was not maintained Conclusion:  Proper compliance to bed safety/surface selection guide with use of convertible surface to supplement full power surfaces for high acuity subjects maintains skin and tissue integrity with added benefit of reduced fall risk and entrapment compliance.
