The Incorporation of Hypochlorous in the Treatment of a Traumatic Wound Bed to the Hand

Objective: To analyze if the incorporation of Hypochlorous (Puracyn, Rialto, California) impacted the healing of a traumatic injury to the hand.

Design: Open, noncomparative study.

Setting: Outpatient clinic.

Patients: Single patient study

Interventions: Puracyn (HOCL) was used as an adjunct to a standard wound care protocol.

Main Outcome Measures: Wound healing, reduction of pain and odor

Main Results: At the end of the case, patient had 100% healing in a six-week period with 95% range of motion, and patient states reduction of pain from a rating of an 8 prior to HOCL to a 4 after utilization. The odor score at end of treatment was 0. At the end of the study, patient experienced no pain.

Conclusion: Puracyn Plus is a valuable contribution to standard protocols of wound care.
