Michael Lohan, Father of Actress, Arrested on Suspicion of Patient Brokering

Michael Lohan, the father of actress Lindsay Lohan, has been arrested on charges of patient brokering activities in Florida, according to media reports.

The arrest of Lohan and more than 100 others was the result of a Palm Beach County (Florida) probe led by state attorney Dave Aronberg. Lohan faces five counts of patient brokering and one count of attempted patient brokering, according to the report. He is suspected of steering patients to Pride Recovery Center in Delray Beach in 2017 and 2018, according to the New York Post.

“Mr. Lohan was investigated by our Sober Homes Task Force and he’s being charged with receiving kickbacks for referring patients to drug treatment,” Aronberg said in a statement. “Patient brokering corrupts our healthcare system because decisions are motivated by greed instead of a patient’s needs. This is our Task Force’s 117th arrest and will not be our last.”

Lohan is suspected of receiving more than $27,000 in kickbacks either directly or through Lola Recovery Ventures of Palm Beach Gardens, a Delray Beach, Florida-based business with which he is associated.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Lohan denied engaging in patient brokering when he spoke with police earlier this month, telling investigators that the money in question had been paid to him to facilitate a sale of Pride Recovery Center.
