Osteen named new CEO of Acadia

Retirement apparently will have to wait for Debra K. Osteen. A little more than a week after the announcement that she would be stepping down as president of UHS’s Behavioral Health Division, Osteen on Sunday was elected to serve as the new CEO of Acadia Healthcare. The move was announced in a news release that was distributed by Acadia on Monday. Osteen replaces Joey A. Jacobs, who was removed from the positions of CEO and chairman of Acadia’s board. In addition to her new role as chief executive, Osteen will serve as director of Acadia’s board. The position of board chairman will be filled by Reeve B. Waud, who has served as lead director at Acadia since 2012. The Acadia board of directors felt the timing was right for a leadership change, Waud said in the news release. “We are thrilled that Debbie Osteen became available to lead Acadia,” Waud said. “Debbie’s extensive industry expertise and impressive track record at UHS make her the right leader for Acadia. Debbie’s experience leading UHS’s Behavioral Health Division over nearly two decades where she was responsible for its growth and operational success across both the U.S. and the U.K. makes her a perfect fit for Acadia.” Osteen had been with UHS for 35 years and served as Behavioral Health Division president since 1999. In the news release announcing her move to Acadia, Osteen noted the company’s ambitious plan to add beds and expand its geographic footprint, which includes “taking a new approach” to business recently acquired in the United Kingdom.
