Qualifacts` CareLogic is the first behavioral health EHR qualified by the Connecticut REC
Nashville, Tenn. – The eHealthConnecticut Regional Extension Center has selected Qualifacts Systems, Inc.'s single-platform electronic health record (EHR) and practice management solution, CareLogicTM as a preferred EHR solution for its statewide deployment initiative within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) REC healthcare grant program. In July eHealthConnecticut issued a Request for Information and collected responses from more than 40 interested EHR software vendors. Qualifacts was the only behavioral health EHR vendor to qualify.
“We are pleased that Connecticut’s health information technology leaders recognized Qualifacts’combination of EHR functionality, implementation resources and national experience,” said President and CEO David Klements. “As the first behavioral health EHR vendor to be selected, we take seriously our responsibility to ensure Connecticut’s behavioral health and human service providers are part of the networks we believe will ensure people with mental illnesses and addiction disorders can access comprehensive healthcare services.”
In April 2010, eHealthConnecticut was awarded a $5.75 million grant by ONC to serve as Connecticut’s REC to support priority providers in accelerating the adoption of health information technology. The eHealthConnecticut REC contracts with healthcare providers to offer direct technical assistance for EHR selection, implementation and meaningful use achievement.
RECs were created last year under the HITECH Act, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Under the HITECH Act, $677 million is allocated for the next two years to support a nationwide system of RECs.
