Business Briefs: Discovery Behavioral Health, Caravel Autism Health, Children's Hospital New Orleans
Discovery Behavioral Health has opened a new Center for Discovery eating disorder treatment program in Enumclaw, Washington, about 45 minutes south of Seattle. The program will treat adolescents between the ages 11 and 17 diagnosed with a primary eating disorder, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. The new program has a capacity of 8 patients.
The Enumclaw program joins a network of Center for Discovery residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs operating in 13 states. The eating disorder treatment program uses cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed therapies, and exposure response prevention, and also provides access to alumni groups and an alumni app post-treatment.
Caravel Adding 2 Autism Programs in Illinois
Caravel Autism Health this week announced plans to add 2 centers in Chicago’s northwest suburbs. The two applied behavior analysis therapy centers will be located in Rolling Meadows and Crystal Lake, Illinois, with both scheduled to open this fall.
Caravel works with children diagnosed with autism and their families, offering evaluation, diagnosis and ABA therapy, as well as support and counseling for family.
Children’s Hospital New Orleans Names Leader for Trauma and Grief Center
Children’s Hospital New Orleans has named Julie Kaplow, PhD, ABPP, as the executive director of its Trauma and Grief (TAG) Center. Kaplow will oversee all activities in the center, including assessment and treatment of traumatized and grieving children.
A licensed clinical psychologist and board-certified in clinical child and adolescent psychology, Kaplow founded a TAG Center in 2012 while on the faculty of the University of Michigan Medical School, and then established a second in Texas in 2014.
Kaplow will maintain her role as executive director of the TAG Center at the Hackett Center for Mental Health in Houston, which will partner with the center at Children’s Hospital New Orleans on the development and dissemination of treatments for youth exposed to trauma and bereavement.
