Montrose Center Appoints Next CEO

The Montrose Center, a Houston, Texas-based LGBTQ+ center that provides substance use disorder treatment, youth and senior services, gender-affirming care, support and advocacy for violent crime survivors, and HIV prevention and care, recently announced that its board of directors has appointed Avery Belyeu as its next CEO. Belyeu will begin her tenure as the organization’s lead executive in February.

Belyeu succeeds the retiring Ann J. Robison, PhD, who guided the organization’s growth from a small mental health clinic for LGBTQ+ individuals who could not afford treatment or did not have insurance to a multiservice center with a $13 million budget.

Belyeu joins the Montrose Center with 14 years of experience as a not-for-profit leader for organizations that include Lambda Legal, the Trevor Project, and the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. Belyeu has also served the LGBTQ+ community through mental health and suicide prevention training, civil rights advocacy, and as a private sector consultant to not-for-profit organizations and state and federal agencies on issues related to mental health, healthcare, and LGBTQ+ issues.

ARC Health Adds 2 More Practices

Exult Healthcare, a Texas-based provider of behavioral healthcare services, and Livingston, New Jersey-based Mindsoother Therapy Center recently became the latest practices to join the portfolio of ARC Health.

Founded by Deepika Bhargava, MD, Exult offers an integrated care model to treat diverse mental health needs. The organization recently introduced services that include the following: on-site medical treatment, medication-assisted therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, intensive outpatient treatment, and holistic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and yoga.

Established in 2011 and led by founder, director, and creator Danna Markson, LCSW, Mindsoother offers individual, family, and group therapy services for children, teens, young adults, and their families. Mindsoother uses dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and exposure and response prevention in its treatment. The organization treats a range of mental health issues, including eating disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), family dynamics, anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicide.

Clew Partners originated the transaction and served as a buy-side advisor to ARC Health in its transaction with Exult. M&A advisory firm Mertz Taggart facilitated the Mindsoother deal.
