Psychedelics Briefs: Ketamine One Signs LOI to Provide Therapy for Vets with PTSD
Ketamine One, a Vancouver-based company that consolidates medical clinics in the mental health space, announced on Monday that it has signed a letter of interest with Veteran Services USA to lease Blue Island Therapy Center, the former MetroSouth Medical Center in a 5,000-square-foot space in Blue Island, Illinois.
Being developed as part of a larger medical complex, Blue Island Therapy Center will implement Ketamine One’s ketamine-assisted therapies to treat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related challenges. Ketamine One will also provide ketamine-assisted therapy in other Veterans Services USA properties.
Separately, Ketamine One announced that it has mutually agreed with Illumma LLC to terminate a non-binding letter of intent that had been announced on Sept. 8. The company remains interested in acquiring additional clinical assets in several states and expanding its network of clinics, the company said in a news release.
Awakn Life Sciences Acquires Clinic in Norway
Awakn Life Sciences Corp. is acquiring a 100% interest in Axonklinikken (“Axon”), a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy clinic in Norway. The clinic will be renamed Awakn Oslo AS, and its majority shareholder, Dr. Lowan Stewart, will become Awakn’s regional director for the Nordics and managing director of Awakn Oslo AS. Stewart previously founded and served as medical director for the Santa Fe Ketamine Clinic, the first ketamine treatment center in New Mexico.
The newly acquired center will serve as a regional hub from which Awakn plans to expand across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The company said in a release it also has expansion plans for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
