For more information, see www.aedif.org…Menlo, GA-based Best Manufacturing, the nation's largest privately held glove maker, has announced several management moves in the areas of sales and product development. Glove-industry veteran Steve Zaugg has been named the company's eastern regional sales manager, while former Brent Industries executive Charles Miller will lead its central region. Michael Gompers and David Shutt, previously regional managers, will now serve as product-development managers, Gompers for the company's general-purpose and cut-resistant lines, Shutt for its chemical-resistant and disposable lines. Don Chamberlain will become Best's territorial representative for Minnesota. "It's a staggering wealth of industry experience and expertise we've assembled," Best Sales and Marketing Director Tom Eggleston said of the moves. "It's not only an infusion of talent for our sales force, but it's also a strategic redeployment of sales direction and input for our new product initiatives." Zaugg, formerly president of Targeting Customer Safety (which he cofounded), will be based in Cincinnati. Miller, formerly president of Brent, will operate out of Alabama. Chamberlain, formerly sales manager for Wells Lamont, will serve under him. Gompers has run Best's eastern region for the last seven years, while Shutt oversaw its central region…Masimo has joined with Linde Medical Sensors AG in a pair of long-term agreements to provide combined arterial oxygen and carbon dioxide sensors and monitors worldwide. A purchasing and licensing agreement will make Masimo SET the sole SpO2 monitoring technology of Linde's Tosca system, and an exclusive distribution agreement makes Masimo the sole distributor of Tosca in the United States. Tosca provides continuous monitoring of transcutaneous PCO2, SpO2 and pulse rate through a single heated sensor. Masimo SET technology will allow Tosca to deliver accurate SpO2 readings in cases of motion, poor perfusion and other low signal-to-noise conditions. The financing is led by Shepherd Ventures and includes Grayhawk Venture Partners and POSCO BioVentures. Emergent has developed the CPAPos Oxygen Saver, a medical device technology platform that assists breathing for sufferers of acute respiratory distress and other forms of dyspnea. CPAPos provides continuous positive airway pressure and addresses breathing difficulties in a manner different from other products. CPAPos Oxygen Saver delivers oxygen on demand and uses a patented positive-pressure face mask designed to improve patient compliance and comfort for those suffering shortness of breath.
