Florida Mother Suing After Being Refused Baby Delivery Help

Story by <a target=_new href=http://www.wftv.com/>wftv.com</a>

A Volusia County mother is suing two local hospitals and an ambulance service over her child's brain damage.

Rita Chess claims both Burt Fish Medical Center and Halifax Medical Center refused to help her deliver her baby when she went into labor three months early.

Instead, the hospitals sent Chess to the Arnold Palmer Medical Center. The baby was delivered in the ambulance on the way to Orlando and suffered brain damage.

"The doctor should be helping people. I mean, how can you refuse to help someone?" Chess questioned.

Chess believes her son's brain was damaged because the ambulance was not equipped with an oxygen system for a premature baby.
