BRIEF: Ambulance involved in Thursday morning wreck

Wes Wolfe

Dec. 12--An ambulance and a work truck collided Thursday near the intersection of Carey Road and West Vernon Avenue.

There wasn't a patient in the ambulance, but a paramedic was transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital as a precaution.

Around 9:30 a.m., an accident involving an EMS vehicle was reported, and a second ambulance requested and a fire truck, as there appeared to be leaking fluid.

At the scene, a white work truck sat perpendicular to westbound traffic with damage to its left front end, shattered glass on the road.

The ambulance was half a block away exhibiting damage to the passenger-side door. The window in the door was knocked out by the collision.

An investigation into the cause of the wreck was ongoing as of 10 a.m.

Information will be updated as it comes in.
