Ambulance Personnel Escape Injuries in N.D. I-94 Rollover
Jan. 26--Two ambulance personnel are safe after an ambulance rolled into a ditch Monday in Stutsman County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The ambulance driver, Aaron Tangren, 31, Bismarck, and William Caldwell, 24, Jamestown, were wearing seat belts and were not injured, the patrol said.
Tangren was driving a 2010 Ford E350 ambulance west on Interstate 94 at about 8:53 p.m. when it slid into the median east of Jamestown and rolled, the patrol said. Freezing conditions and winds created an icy stretch of highway near mile marker 270. Multiple vehicles slid into the ditch and median, the patrol said.
No patients were being transported at the time of the crash. Damage to the ambulance is estimated at $80,000, the patrol said.
Jamestown Area Ambulance transported Tangren and Caldwell to Jamestown Regional Medical Center, where they were treated and released. The ambulance driver was cited for care required, and the crash remains under investigation.
