Fla. College Receives Grant to Train First Responders

Jan. 15—WINTER HAVEN—The Polk State College Foundation received a $4,485 grant from the CSX Beyond Our Rails program to buy trauma mannequins for use in training first responders.
The adult trauma and CPR mannequins will provide training scenarios designed to give students simulated real-life trauma care experiences, according to a news release from the college.
Training will take place at the Polk County Center for Public Safety and include rescue, extraction, immobilization, and restraint scenarios, as well as three National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians continuing education courses.
