Penn. EMT Assaulted by Patient

May 22—A man bit an emergency medical technician Monday outside of Indiana Borough, according to state police.

Addison Lee McCracken, 26, who told police he resides in Colorado, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, institutional vandalism, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness filed by state police in connection with the 7:30 p.m. incident at a shopping plaza on the 2200 block of Oakland Avenue in White Township.

Trooper Bruce Waters said medics from Citizens Ambulance responded after McCracken was found passed out behind a shoe store.

"As the medics made contact with him, McCracken became violent and began to physically assault the medics," Waters wrote in court documents.

Waters alleges in court documents that during the scuffle, McCracken bit medical technician Shawn Miller in the stomach. Miller required medical treatment.

Waters also reported that McCracken became combative when he was arrested and had to be restrained as he was placed in a patrol car.

Police said McCracken formerly lived in Indiana.

McCracken was arraigned before Blairsville District Judge Jennifer Rega and ordered held in the Indiana County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bond.
