NAEMSP, EMF Announce New Prehospital Research Funding
PRESS RELEASE
June 19—The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP®) and the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) are pleased to announce the recipients of their inaugural partnership to provide grants for prehospital research. Three proposals were selected for funding:
Understanding the Nutrition Practices of Dayshift and Nightshift EMS Workers
David Hostler, PhD, EMT-P, and Brian Clemency, DO, MBA
University at Buffalo
Amount: $5,000
Paramedic Attitudes to Obtaining Informed Consent for Prehospital Research Trials
Jason McMullan, MD, MS, FAEMS, and Joshua Borkosky, NRP
University of Cincinnati
Amount: $5,000
Utilizing Simulation to Improve Pediatric Prehospital Medical Care
Gregory Faris, MD, and David Rayburn, MD, MPH
Indiana University School of Medicine
Leon Bell, EMT-P, MS
Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services
Amount: $3,750
“The Emergency Medicine Foundation is excited to work with NAEMSP and expand funding for emergency care researchers who strive to improve pre-hospital care,” said Stephen H. Anderson, MD, FACEP, Chair of the EMF Board of Trustees. “We look forward to seeing the outcomes of these projects and the accomplishments of these researchers.”
“These grants are an important avenue to advancing NAEMSP’s mission of improving out-of-hospital emergency medical care. We are enthusiastic about a continued partnership with the EMF and the impact it can have on our field and ultimately for the patients we serve,” noted NAEMSP President David K. Tan, MD, EMT-T, FAAEM, FAEMS.
