Gobey’s partner, LaRocca, added “EMS requires excellent teamwork, effective communication and the ability to assess situations and identify the best course of action quickly. I was fortunate to have David as my teammate.”
After winning local and regional competitions AMR and Rural Metro Fire teams from Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts and Oregon competed in the final competition at the Community College of Aurora, Lowry Campus – Center for Simulation in Denver. During the August 3-4 event, participants executed numerous situations with actors from the college to simulate their daily encounters with patients and bystanders. Additionally, the teams competed in a timed driving course that measured their abilities to operate an ambulance safely while providing medical care.
“In bringing together some of our top EMS practitioners for this exciting event, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of quality EMS response and transport and reinforce our crews’ ongoing training and education,” said Rob Garrett, National Director Safety and Risk Management of AMR. “We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our communities and are extremely proud of the quality care our EMTs and paramedics provide their communities on a daily basis.”
