Antibiotic Recalled

After a customer reportedly found a nylon cable tie in a bottle, AuroMedics Pharma issued a recall for a single lot of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablets. The recall was included in the February 19, 2020, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.

The recall affects amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablets, 875 mg/125 mg, 20-count bottles (NDC 65862-503-20) from lot SM8719040-A (Exp. 2/21). The 30,432 bottles included in the lot were distributed throughout the United States by Aurobindo Pharma USA.

AuroMedics Pharma voluntarily initiated the recall February 7, 2020. At press time, the FDA had not yet classified the recall.

Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium is a combination penicillin-type antibiotic medicine available with a prescription to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
