Corticosteroid Recalled
Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals Inc. is recalling 89,722 blister packs of methylprednisolone tablets, USP, 4 mg (NDC 59746-001-03), according to the September 26, 2018, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report. The voluntary recall was prompted by out-of-specification results during 18-month stability testing.
The recalled blister packs contain 21 tablets each and are from lot 17P0078 (Exp. 12/18). The packs were distributed throughout the United States.
Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals initiated the recall August 27, 2018. On September 21, 2018, the FDA designated it Class III, suggesting use of the recalled drugs is not likely to cause harm.
Methylprednisolone tablets are prescription corticosteroids used to relieve inflammation in a number of conditions, such as arthritis, arthritis, lupus, and ulcerative colitis.
