Corticosteroid Spray Recalled

Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc. is recalling 876 bottles of desoximetasone topical spray, 0.25%, because samples failed to meet impurity/degradation specifications during routine testing, according to the March 11, 2020, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report. 

The recall affects desoximetasone topical spray, 0.25%, 2.5 mg desoximetasone, 100-mL bottles, from lots K800475 (Exp. 5/20) and K800477 (Exp. 6/20). The bottles were distributed throughout the United States. 

Lupin Pharmaceuticals voluntarily initiated the recall February 19, 2020. The FDA designated the recall Class II on March 3, 2020, signaling use of the product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. A remote possibility of serious harm also exists. 

Desoximetasone topical spray is a prescription corticosteroid used to treat plaque psoriasis in adults.
