Hypokalemia Medication Recalled

Strides Pharma Science Limited is voluntarily recalling 2576 bottles of potassium chloride extended-release tablets after oversized tablets were discovered in one lot, according to the March 25, 2020, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.

The recall affects 1000-count bottles of potassium chloride extended-release tablets, 750 mg (NDC 64380-861-08), from lots 7238958A (Exp. 7/31/21), 7238257A (Exp. 7/31/21), and 7239404A (Exp. 9/30/21). The tablets were distributed throughout the United States.

Strides Pharma Science Limited initiated the recall February 17, 2020. On March 13, 2020, the FDA designated the recall Class III, suggesting use of the product is not likely to cause harm.

Potassium chloride tablets are available with a prescription to treat low levels of potassium in the blood.
