Liquid Pain Medicine Recalled in Three States

Preferred Pharmaceuticals Inc. is voluntarily recalling several lots of prescription ibuprofen oral suspension, 100 mg/5 mL, 4 fluid ounces (118 mL, NDC 68788-7268-01), distributed in California, Florida, and Illinois. According to the December 4, 2019, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, the product may contain small plastic particles.

The recall affects ibuprofen oral suspension from the following lots: I1718U (Exp. 3/20), K0818L (Exp. 9/20), L2718E (Exp. 9/20), A2219E (Exp. 9/20), C1519S (Exp. 12/20), C2819Y (Exp. 12/20), and E2019V (Exp. 11/20). The drug was manufactured by Taro Pharmaceutical Industries. 

Preferred Pharmaceuticals initiated the recall November 21, 2019. On November 27, 2019, the FDA designated the recall Class II, signaling use of the product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. A remote possibility of serious harm also exists. 

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication used to treat pain and fever.
