Over 110,000 Bottles of a Diabetes Drug Recalled
Recalled are 60-count bottles of metformin hydrochloride tablets, 1000 mg (NDC 68645-545-59), from lot 201626 (Exp. 8/22). The bottles were manufactured for Heritage Pharmaceuticals Inc., packaged by Legacy Pharmaceutical Packaging, and distributed by Walmart distribution centers in Georgia and Arkansas.
Legacy Pharmaceutical Packaging voluntarily initiated the recall September 24, 2020. The FDA designated the recall Class III on September 30, 2020. Under the recall classification, use of the affected tablets is not likely to cause harm.
Metformin is a prescription drug used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.
