Antiseptics Recalled Over Labeling Error

A labeling error has prompted TSM Brands to voluntarily recall more than 1 million bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol antiseptic. According to the March 9, 2022, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, the affected products contain undeclared ethyl alcohol.

The recall includes the following products:

  • 70% isopropyl alcohol first aid antiseptic with wintergreen, 12 fluid ounce, 355-mL bottle (UPC 868275965765), from lots 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45, made in Turkey and distributed by TSM Brands throughout the United States;
  • Luxury 70% isopropyl alcohol, 16 fluid ounce, 473-mL bottle (UPC 868275965734), from lots 339, 340, 341, 342, 343, 344, 345, 346, 347, 348, 349, 350, 351, 352, 353, 354, 355, 356, 357, 358, 359, 360, 361, 362, 363, 364, 365, 366, 367, 368, 369, 370, 371, 372, 373, 374, 375, 376, 377, 378, 379, 380, 381, 382, 383, 384, 385, 386, 387, 388, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395, 396, 397, 398, and 399, distributed by TSM Brands throughout the United States.

TSM Brands initiated the recall February 7, 2022. On February 25, 2022, the FDA designated the recall Class II. Products affected by Class II recalls may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences if used. While remote, a possibility of serious harm also exists.

The first aid antiseptics are used to help prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
