Skin Cream Recalled for Microbial Contamination
Prequel Skin is recalling more than 30 000 tubes of Barrier Therapy Skin Protectant Cream because of microbial contamination, according to the September 18, 2024, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report.
The recall affects Barrier Therapy Skin Protectant Cream (1% colloidal oatmeal) in 10 fl oz/296 mL tubes (UPC 8 10129 11007 4) from lots X4054A (Exp. 2/26), X4136A (Exp. 5/26), X4137A (Exp. 5/26), and X4138A (Exp. 5/26). The product was distributed by Prequel, Los Angeles, California, throughout the United States and to online customers.
Prequel Skin voluntarily initiated the recall on August 28, 2024. The FDA designated the recall Class II on September 9, 2024. If used, products affected by Class II recalls may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. While remote, a possibility of serious harm also exists.
Barrier Therapy Skin Protectant Cream is marketed to alleviate minor irritation and itchiness from dryness and eczema flare-ups.
