Subpotent OTC Pain Products Pulled

The Tampa, Florida-based firm Global Widget is recalling 2 over-the-counter pain relief products. According to the July 31, 2024, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, the amount of menthol in the products is less than the label claim of 4%.

The recall includes the following products, which Global Widget distributed throughout the United States:

  • 18 540 bottles of Hemp Bombs CBD Pain Freeze (menthol 4%), 100 mg, 1-ounce bottles (NDC 73423-003-01, UPC code 8-40078-56493-2), from lots 230189 (Exp. 4/25), 230335 (Exp. 7/25), and 230351 (Exp. 8/25); and
  • 2446 bottles of Nature’s Script CBD Cryotherapy Pain Relief Roll-On (menthol 4%), 200 mg, 1-ounce bottles (UPC code 8-40078-56731-5), from lots 230346 (Exp. 8/25) and 230090 (Exp. 2/25).

Global Widget voluntarily initiated the recalls on June 25, 2024. On July 22, 2024, the FDA designated them Class III. Per the recall classification, the use of the affected products is not likely to cause harm.

Hemp Bombs CBD Pain Freeze is marketed as a topical solution for pain relief. Nature’s Script CBD roll-on is marketed as a gel for pain relief.
