Antiviral Tablets Recalled

Heritage Pharmaceuticals Inc. is voluntarily recalling 408 bottles of acyclovir tablets because of a labeling error. According to the May 12, 2021, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report, labels are missing the lot number and/or expiration date.

The recall affects acyclovir tablets, 400 mg, 100 tablets (NDC 23155-227-01), from lot A120036 (Exp. 12/23). The tablets were packaged in 150 cc white HDPE bottles, which were distributed in Ohio by Avet Pharmaceuticals Inc., East Brunswick, NJ.

Heritage Pharmaceuticals initiated the recall April 21, 2021. On May 6, 2021, the FDA designated the recalls Class III, suggesting use of the recalled product is not likely to cause harm.

Acyclovir is a prescription antiviral medication used to treat herpes virus infections.
